MALE LINE
Richard Wilkinson Born 1759. Married 1805 to Sarah VanHorni-Broek at & both of Mallow, County of Cork. Ireland. She died in 1840. He died in 1846 & buried in the Catherdral Churchyard Cork “Toombstone” carried on Shoe Warehouse business for a many years in the North Main St City of Cork 8 children by above marriage 4 living 1840 viz

John born 1806 married 1830 died 1841
Rebecca born 1808 married 1841 to James Campbell at Cork, she died childless on 1887 in Cork Aug 24th
Richard born 1810 died 1857 at Lancaster England Unmarried
Sarah born 1811 married 1845 to Wright of Cork The above were born and married in the City of Cork ( The latter had children & took possession of & lived in her fathers cottage at St Lukes also the ground attached to the exclusion of Rebecca and Richard who by their fathers will were left equal shares in the property )


FEMALE LINE
James Stuart born 1762 in the North of Ireland Married 1798 to his namesake Mary Stuart who died 1839.He was during his life connected with the Army & at the time of his death 1848 was Pay & Quartermaster for the Kildare Militia He is buried in the English Ch yard Naas Co. Kildare Ireland in which town his wife & most of his children were born (7) Children
Arthur, Charles, John, Susannah, Eliza, Jane, James
Arthur died in West Indies 1830
Charles 2nd eldest died in Australia 1870
John 3rd died in Dublin 1855 on Crimean war Recruiting Staff married Jane Wylie
Sussannah born 1809 do 1830 died 1841
Eliza born 1810 married Atcheson and had one daughter born 1832 at Naas in 1840 Atcheson died She & daughter left for America 1851 & settled in the Town of Manchester USA
Jane born 1812 married 1838 to Dr Dunn of Cootehill Co Cavan one girl by this marriage Died at Cootehill 1842
James born 1815 do at Naas 1845
All Dead (with the exception of 2 cousins )

Mary born 1834 all born on the Grand Parade in the City of Cork Ireland

Emigrated and sailed in the ship “ Neptune” from the Port of Plymouth and arrived in Sydney 1841 the mother burst a blood vessel and died on board the ship in harbour and is buried in the old Cemetery at Sydney NSW. Immigrated to New Zealand 1841 in the brig called the “Sophia Pate” chartered Wilkinson and Co at Kaipara NZ with goods and cattle in order to form a settlement at Kiheu Captain Harrison not waiting for the pilot tried to enter the harbour and ran the ship on a Sand bar August 31st 1841 With one exception all the passengers of the ship were lost viz Messrs Wilkinson & Salter with their families Mr Charles Stuart & family also others; The crew and captain with the eldest son of John Wilkinson were saved thru possessing themselves of the remaining Boat and thereby got to land .The captain was tried and imprisoned in Auckland for losing the ship and smashing the hands of Wilkinson senior to compel him to leave his hold on the gunwale of the boat when attempting to get into it.
John Stuart Wilkinson the only living male of the Stuarts & Wilkinsons returned home in HM Frigate North Star 1846 six m after Grandfather Wilkinsons death & who left Rebecca Campbell guardian. Served time in Yorkshire to Surveying & Engineering





John Stuart Wilkinson married Sarah Smith 2nd eldest daughter of William Smith Publican of Southwell Norrs by his second wife Esther nee Hind at Wakefield Yorkshire on the 13 of February 1851. Sarah S was born 1830 @ Southwell Esther Hind of Goodge st London married William Smith at Southwell
Eliza, William, Sarah, Esther, Margaret children of the 3 last are dead

Wilkinson and Wife arrived in Melbourne per Ship Herald of the Morning Dec 54 with 2 Children. The husband was born on the Grand Parade Cork on Friday mor Jan 28th 1831 and baptised Sunday Feb 20th 1831 by the Rev Starroll Curator of St Pauls P Ch
Had Children as follows
1st Susannah Stuart born June 25th at 43 Dove st in the City of York and baptised in the Parish of Bishophill Junior at St Marys Church York
2nd Jane born June 25 1854 at Eastmoor and Baptised in the Pth Ch Kirkgate Wakefield
3rd John born April 9th 1856 at Hoddle st East Collingwood Melbourne Australia
4th Sarah born October 31 1859 in Islington St E Collingwood Melbourne Australia
5th Alfred born April 20 1862 in No 5 Robinson Terrace Canning st Calton Melbourne

The father was Engaged by the Govt of New Zealand as Military Surveyor and arrived in the Waikato Auckland (during the Maori War ) in 1864 and 3 yrs stayed there
The Mother & Family of 5 came from Melbourne to Wellington NZ 1867

6th Clara born Feb 7th 1869 at the Taueru Station Wairarapa Province Wellington
7th Richard born 1871 in Frederick st Wellington since dead

John Stuart Wilkinson died at Shannon North Island NZ Nov 5th 1903
His wife Sarah Wilkinson died in Wellington North Island NZ Sept 2nd 1894
